5 Things You Can Do With a Boot Tray
You might be surprised that you can do much more with a boot tray than place your boots on it. Sure, you don’t want water, snow or mud tracked through the house. But what about other “messy” items?
Take a look at this particular boot tray. You can see that it has a lovely design that narrows in the middle.
You want a place to put your plants, your pet bowls, the cat litter box, an inside fountain. This tray is the answer. Here are the dimensions:
● 28″ long
● 15″ wide (12.5″ wide where it narrows in the middle)
● the lip on the edge is a generous 1.25″ high
Store garden items on it, pet food, bird seed, laundry detergents, shoes in your office cubicle or dorm room, anything you don’t want sitting directly on the floor. If it slides around on the floor, put an old yoga mat under it, or dot the bottom with hot glue (wait for it to dry!)
Here are the top 5 things you can do with a boot tray.
1. Use It As A Boot Tray
This is the obvious use for a boot tray! Place your wet or muddy boots on a it near the front and back doors to protect your floors from water damage. This also keeps dirt and mud from being tracked through the house.
2. A Tray for Plants or Herbs
Because this particular tray is a rigid molded plastic (not flexible), it’s a good support for pots of flowers and herbs. If you have indoor potted plants or herbs, keep your table surface dry and protected from potting soil and water.
Use it outdoors on the deck or patio for your potted plants. A row of different herbs in cute pots looks charming in a sunny spot near the back door, for easy access when you need them.
3. A Tray for Pet Bowls
You have a pet (or two) — a dog, a cat, a ferret — and you want a place for pet bowls so that they don’t skid around on the floor. Water on a tiled floor is slippery. Don’t take a chance on a pet’s water bowl creating a hazard. This tray catches those splashes of water. If your pet has a drinking fountain, placing it on a boot tray is a great way to keep water off your floor.
Pets can also create a mess when eating. Catch those errant kibbles by placing the food bowl on a boot tray. Some pet food is wet, and it can really be a mess around the bowl when wet food is gobbled. You can easily clean the tray by simply rinsing it off or by using a soapy towel and then rinsing.
4. A Tray for a Cat Litter Box
If you have a cat, you know that litter can easily be tracked throughout the house. Setting the cat litter box on a tray helps collect loose litter.
5. A Tray for an Indoor Fountain
Indoor fountains are soothing and often placed in the living room or a bedroom. However, they can splash. The raised side walls of this tray keep splashing water from ruining your floor or tabletop.
